Magic Arena has been in beta since 2017, and since we received another State of the Game with no new game features outside of a set of cards that were already previously implemented in the game I decided to compile a list of features that currently exist in Magic: The Gathering Online that are not yet implemented in Magic Arena.
This list is not comprehensive, as I have spent relatively little time in MTGO, so I may miss a few things. Also, this list will not contain any features related to the reduced cardpool of MTGA or the economy decisions Wizards of the Coast have made for MTGA. I'm not going to list the obvious differences like "You can play Commander!" and "You can buy and sell cards!" More cards is not a feature. Wildcards are not features.
Lastly, this list is not a recommendation of one client over the other. They both have their obvious strengths and it would be disingenuous to say that one is the clear superior over the other. Please don't comment "Yes MTGO has this, but it doesn't have THESE features". That's not what this post is about. MTGA should be the superior product, yet it's missing core features.
So, why don't we start with...

In-game Chat

This is an obvious one, and probably the easiest to disregard. Toxicity is obviously a problem in the current gaming market, and even MTGO with its hefty paywall still has its share of toxic players. However, I still believe an in-game chat with some moderation (and self-moderation in the form of a block list, which is present in MTGO) would benefit the game overall. This is the most subjective feature on this list however, so I completely understand if you think the game is better off without it. Moving on however, we have...

Auto-yield

Remember back to when "Resolve All" was implemented, and how important that tiny step felt. Now imagine you could select spells or triggers and have the client automatically yield priority every time and allow them to resolve. Soul Sisters could definitely benefit from this, and probably several other cards I can't think of at the moment. You can tell the game you would like to yield to absolutely everything this turn, or yield until the end step, or yield until a specific phase of the turn. You can also save whether you will respond "Yes" or "No" to certain triggers. Currently, whenever you want to hold priority at your opponents upkeep or draw step or your own end step, you need to click the icon of that step at next to the appropriate player. Game Logs

Your opponent activates their castle vantress, but you get a text. Or your dogs start barking. Or you blink. Or you just plain aren't paying attention. You look back and you missed it; did they top? did they bottom? What did they do? In MTGO, you just check the game log. It tracks everything from lands played to spells to choices made for abilities. The functionality isn't perfect, but it's better than nothing, which is what we currently have in Arena. The logs don't stop in game either. Full Game Replays

Yes. You can watch your own replays. The game only keeps track of information available to you so you can't peek at your opponents hands to see what they might have had, but the feature is still such an incredible tool both for learning and for showing off. Rewatching big, game winning plays, or your game losing mistakes to learn from them; there is a lot to do with game replays, and their exclusion makes me sad. Open Play

This actually replaces the matchmaker in MTGO, which does not exist outside of League play. Basically you select your format and jump into a lobby where you can join open games or create your own. You can even add a little message that acts as a pseudo lobby name, like "Serious Practice" or "No Counterspells" if you're so inclined. Trading (Deck Sharing)

I know I said I wouldn't be showing any features related to MTGO's economy, but this should be treated as an exception. WOTC has told us that Deck Sharing is on its way, but as of today it's still not here, and has not been mentioned in the latest State of the Game. Thanks to MTGO's card economy, deck sharing is a relative breeze, allowing you and a friend to trade decks and play against each other with each other's cards in whatever format you'd like.
And that covers it. There's other minor things like being able to see your sideboard in game (and deck list, since matches are opened in a new window), drawing cards at the end of a game to see how the game could have gone, and revealing your hand to your opponent after a game, but these are the major ones. Graphics/Performance Mode Introduction

Added an option to the game that allows players to choose between Performance or Visual Quality.

Feature breakdown:
  • This option is available for Xbox Series X|S & PlayStation®5.

  • Sliders can now be moved with left/right arrows on M&K and controllers.
  • Increased fabric limit to 82.
  • Added fabric to traders once the settlement has reached Level 6.
  • Added offering altar requirements to the world map.

Balancing

  • Updated gear quality and gear to their correct values.
  • Added Assassination damage stats on the character stats page.
  • Removed duplicate gear from inventory.
  • Heavy and light attack stats will now adjust correctly based on acquired skill nodes.
  • Heavy attack modifiers will no longer be applied to range attacks.

Save Games

  • Corrected some instances where Load Game would not display save games correctly.
  • Renamed Cloud saves to make them more distinguishable from regular saves.
    • Previously the cloud save was only highlighted with a Cloud icon. Now they’ll be called, for example, “Manual Save Cloud”
  • Removed Cloud saves from the Save menu. This will ensure that it cannot be overwritten unintentionally.
  • Added a notification when a cloud save retrieval has failed.

Graphics, Audio, Animation
  • Addressed various graphical issues across the board.
  • Addressed various FX issues.
  • Addressed various instances of clipping issues.
  • Addressed various visual issues with Eivor's cloak.

  • Added a timer until players can restart a raid that was just completed.

Photo Mode
  • Effect values can now be adjusted with arrow keys or WASD.
  • The no-filter option will now work correctly.
  • The Territory panel is no longer displayed in Photo Mode.
  • Changing filters will now work as intended.
  • Addressed an issue where an Online Service Error could occur temporarily when looking at photos on the world map.
  • Snow FX will now center to the camera instead of the player in Photo Mode.
